RENEWED FEMIA PRESIDENCY

René Espinosa Terrazas was elected as the new president of the Mexican Aerospace Industry Federation (FEMIA) for the period 2020-2022, replacing Felipe Sandoval Ramírez.

The production of aeronautical components in Mexico will fall between 25% and 45% this year, as a result of the crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Given this scenario, the Executive President of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA), Luis Lizacano, proposes to boost the aerospace industry in order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the market.

SPACE: FROM 3,500 MILLION DOLLARS THE AREA OF OPPORTUNITY, ONLY IN EARTH OBSERVATION

Mexico can be not only a spectator, but also a "very important" participant in the space business that started a little more than ten years ago, called new space, which constitutes the low cost of this industry, which evolved from costly missions and heavy satellites to a level of lighter satellites that went from weighing 6 tons to half a ton, developing the same functions, cheaper in their construction and launch, said the President of the Space Commission of the Mexican Federation of Aerospace Industry (FEMIA), Benjamin Najar.

SUPPLIER DRIVE, KEY FOR THE AEROSPACE SECTOR

The sanitary emergency by Covid-19 put a brake on the production of the aerospace industry; however, in the Bajio, strategies are being developed to energize this sector.

THE AEROSPACE SECTOR FLIES IN THE NORTHWEST

By the volume of aerospace exports, Mexico ranks 12th worldwide, since in 2019 this industry exported 9,500 million dollars, according to the Mexican Federation of Aerospace Industry (FEMIA). This has positioned this sector as one of the most important within manufacturing and has been consolidated mainly in the northwest of the country and in Querétaro.
